The Botleng Wastewater Treatment Plant services the town of Delmas in the Mpumulanga Province in South Africa. Delmas lies 60 km east of Johannesburg and has a population of approximately 92,000. Botleng is one of two wastewater treatment plants (WTPs) in the town, the other being the Delmas town WTP. These sewage treatment facilities have to produce effluents that comply with the specifications of the relevant authorities, which include nutrient removal.

The Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association believes that the UK pool and spa industries are being unfairly criticised in the debate on water metering, as residential swimming pools and hot tubs consume less water daily than a single household bath.
There are an estimated 250,000 pools in residential homes across the UK – the majority of these being outdoor garden pools. About 3,000 pools a year are added as permanent installations with typical costs of about £30,000.
