Rainwater harvesting works by taking the rain from roofs, filtering out leaves and debris, and then storing the water in a main storage tank, which can then be used for internal uses, such as in washing machines and toilet flushing, as well as outside uses like garden watering and vehicle washing.

Stormsaver has launched its Monsoon® range for domestic properties which guarantees users up to a 50% reduction in their water bills.

“With mains water becoming an increasingly precious resource, due to increases in demand from our ever-growing population, rainwater harvesting can provide around 50 per cent of a family’s water needs. This not only saves water, but also saves money and reduces our impact on the environment. This is why more and more people are capturing their own rainwater – to make sure they have enough for their needs at a price they can afford,” said Michael Farnsworth, Stormsaver’s Manager Director.

Designed specifically for residential properties, Stormsaver's new Monsoon® system uses 90% less energy than some other rainwater harvesting systems, and uses a new range of technologically advanced membrane pumps which operate on just 90 watts.

“This means energy consumption and running costs of the Monsoon® system are 90 per cent lower than traditional pumping systems. The Monsoon® system also costs less to operate, less to maintain and emits lower associated CO2.”

The Monsoon® system’s environmental credentials don’t stop with lower power consumption and CO2 emissions. Solar or wind fuelled power supplies can easily be connected to the system, reducing operating costs still further and boosting environmental credentials.

The Monsoon® system starts from £1,500.
