CIWEM secures successful ISO14001 recertification for its environmental management system

The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management has successfully achieved recertification of its environmental management system (EMS) to the internationally recognised ISO14001 standard. CIWEM is one of a small number of professional bodies to operate an independently accredited EMS and the only chartered environmental body to do so. The system of continual improvement helps the Institution to reduce its environmental impacts on an ongoing basis and cut costs. International Water Summit launched in Abu Dhabi

Use and capacity of Global Hydropower increases

Industrialized and developing countries continue to rely on their critical water resources as a renewable electricity source. Global use of hydropower increased more than 5 percent between 2009 and 2010, according to recent research published by the Worldwatch Institute for its Vital Signs Online publication.
